Hey there!

Here is this week's edition of Conservationist Content Newsletter.

2 Things in this week's Nat-News:

*Nat-News is the cool way to say Nature News. But in like, millennial speak. We shorten words. That's kind of our thing.

1️⃣ Southern California wildlife bridge plan gets huge boost

Link: AP News//Full Story

Too long, didn't read: U.S. Freeway 101 in SoCal is highly trafficked, and also cuts right through many animals' natural habitats. A plan to build a wildlife bridge, which would allow mountain lions and other wildlife to move between wilderness areas, has received $25 million in grant money to advance the project. Woot woot!

2️⃣ Biden Administration Approves 1st Major Offshore Wind Energy Project

Link: NPR//Full Story

Too long, didn't read: The U.S. Interior Department approved a large-scale offshore wind project on Tuesday, which is a huge win for renewable and resilient energy on the east coast. The project cost is $2.8 billion and will consist of 62 wind turbines spaced about a mile apart, each standing about 837 feet above the ocean. The wind turbines will be off the coast of Martha's Vineyard and will power roughly 400,000 homes.

2 ideas from me:

1️⃣ Consider this your reminder to recycle aluminum! Aluminum is one of the rare things on earth that can be recycled forever. (The rest of the list: steel, glass, my jokes)

2️⃣ Fun fact to impress your cool friends at your cool parties: Bats... not blind. They use echolocation to see and catch prey in the pitch black of night, but not because they are blind. Your super cool friends will definitely take out their phones because they don't believe you, enjoy that moment.

2 things you can do to be a better conservationist:

1️⃣ Don't use your toilet as a trashcan. If you go squish a bug, or you have to throw out a tissue, just by throwing it in the trash, instead of the toilet, you save up to 5 gallons per flush!

2️⃣ Clean out the lint before you dry your clothes. The average american spends about $150 per year on drying their clothes, you can save up to 30% on that number if you clean out the lint catcher!

Thanks for making it this far down the page, I appreciate you,

- Josh
